Ashford Designer Outlet
This is Ashford Designer Outlet’s first extension since the centre opened in 2000 and it will add a further 50 shops to the 80 already there - plus restaurants, 725 extra car parking space, a new events space and children’s play area and more links to the town centre. It is also going to contain the Biggest Green Wall in Europe. This extension will add around 100,000 sq ft, to the current 185,000sqft of retail space, to create one of the UK’s flagship designer outlets.
The new extension is designed by Chapman Taylor, who along with ALD, have designed a stunning ‘green’ wall cladding system to reflect the centre’s location in Kent, the Garden of England. ALD have also been involved in production of the wider landscape masterplan, which seeks to improve connections from the outlet to the wider community including the train station and town centre so as many people can benefit from the scheme as feasible. As the project gathers pace and comes into fruition ALD are continuing to support the client and contractor team in the day to day running.
We are currently overseeing the first phase of the redevelopment works, this has involved the creation of new habitat corridors with a particular emphasis on water vole relocation along with several other species.
