Paradise Phase One, Birmingham

Paradise Circus is a major regeneration scheme located in Birmingham City Centre and one of the largest development schemes seen in Birmingham for a generation. This first phase involves two new office buildings and extensive enhancements to the public realm. It incorporates improvements to infrastructure and pedestrian routes, as well as reinvigorating the existing Chamberlain Square with high quality materials and finishes.  

ALD are the Technical Landscape Architects appointed to develop the concept design for Phase One of the Paradise Birmingham scheme. The design features a set of curved steps and bleachers with seamless natural stone detailing focussing not only on appearance, but also on minimising material waste. Procurement of these high quality hard landscape materials has been an important aspect of the project, with stone selection carried out by Kym Jones at a quarry in Portugal and important logistics to coordinate delivery and installation. Paradise Birmingham has required careful coordination with other consultants, including Birmingham City Council in order to develop the scheme as part of the wider site masterplan.
