London 2012 Athlete’s Village: Living Roofs
As Project Lead, ALD collated a specialist team of Engineers, Ecologists and Soil Scientists, to deliver a site wide masterplan and detailed design proposal for habitat creation to the upper level residential roof tops — including development of an initial habitat research strategy which entailed on the ground soil testing and plant species quadrant sampling to define the habitats to be created.
As habitats are all lightweight mimics of ground level matrices, all material had to be verified and full documentation presented to the PDT, NHBC, ODA and Triathlon.
All design proposals comply with site wide environmental and sustainability strategies, and continued monitoring of Code for Sustainable Homes Compliance etc.
