We were appointed by Willerby Landscapes to provide full landscape detailed design and construction documentation for Chavasse Park – due to the elevated roof top nature of the public realm open space, the design includes a series of steps set into the landscape, a network of DDA compliant coordinated ramps and an extensive flight of steps – forming a landmark link to Discovery Axis.
One of the main routes and public realm spaces within the Liverpool 1 regeneration zone, Discovery Axis is home to an interlocking series of water features – a lunar pool (circular stone with thin film of water), two open pools (reflecting the river water) and a series of fountain jets (which follow the line of the old dry dock wall, and which cycle in a sine-wave to emulate the tide and moon rhythms as established by Hutchinson).
Working with specialist suppliers Fountains Direct and supporting Willerby Landscapes, we prepared detailed and fabrication drawings for the public realm water feature – coordinating utility requirements, stone cladding details and material interfaces to fully realise a landmark feature at the heart of this Hammerson Plc Development.
Recently complete, this courtyard space presented the design team with a challenge – creating something with height, yet transparency, in an area of high shade and reflective light.
Appointed as Executive Landscape Architects for the external works construction team of BAM Nuttalls, we are responsible for all hard and soft landscape elements, including coordination of one of the largest water features in Europe, for this prestigious public realm project.
Appointed by Westfield in Summer 2008, we are enjoying working on this public realm scheme which will provide the retail heart to the regenerative community currently being constructed on the East side of London.
